The Sabile Adventure!
On Thursday we went on our overnight trip to Sabile and as you will see from the photos we had a great time! 13 children came with us and we didn't stop going from one activity to another.

As planned we took the children on a summer toboggan run and horse riding. They loved it and I think all would have had more goes if the budget had allowed it! As well as this the children swan in the river, we went around a modern sculpture park, had fun in a 'fairytale forest' playing organised games in 2 teams, and zooming across a river on a zip line!

When it came to bedtime the staff and I decided to leave them in the school gym we were staying in and let them go mad! We sat outside enjoying the country night sky and tried to ignore the running, screaming and general sound of chaos coming from inside! Once we came back in it took a while for them to settle and at 1.30am I finally got out of my sleeping bag and walked around the gym like a tired policewomen, shining my phone light at those who were making noise, by 2am all were quiet! Come the morning we did have some very tired children and some needed extra help getting out of bed by way of a little bed shower!!!

It was wonderful to be able to give them a real chance of adventure as for all the children they did at least one new thing. For some all of it was new :-)

God really blessed us by keeping us safe from any injures and gave us great weather too!

Summer holidays

Sorry there hasn't been any post for a while but last week because of still being short staffed we closed the centre so that I could guarantee the staff having a week off!

We're back now and busy organising for out next overnight trip which takes place on Thursday. This time we're off to Sabile, a small town west of Riga and about 2 hours away. This trip should be very different from our last one as it's in the countryside, not by the beach and we have a few structured activities for the children to take part in. I really hope that this will be a trip where the children are challenged! We are planning to go horse riding and on a summer toboggan run as well as having a few hours playing in the river which has small waterfalls running through it.

Inese is doing a lot of the organising as it is her home town. I'm feeling like I've left her to do it all but then another way of looking at it is a good bit of delegation! The only thing that could spoil it is the weather as after a wonderful 3 months we're finally getting some rain! Hopefully it will hold off for 2 days.

Today we are starting to advertise again for Dace's replacement, we really need someone in place for September so that we can get our normal program up and running again so your prayers for this would be appreciated. Thanks

Patverums blog's a year old!
Maybe a strange thing to write about but the centre's blog is 1 year old this month! Time flies!

I hope you like the new look, I thought it could do with a change.

Over the past few weeks I've been looking back over the different posts that Graeme and myself have written and so been remind of different situations that we've faced, changes in staff and the various events that have taken place.

God has been really good to us, meeting our needs in all sorts of ways! There are still many places where we need Him to touch the lives of the children and parents we work with but we are constantly aware that we need to trust Him, place them and the centre in His hands and not to forget to do our part too!

I hope you're enjoying the blog. It's always great to read peoples comments and find out who is following our life here. If you ever have suggestions or things you'd like to hear more about please feel free to contact me and I'll see what I can do.

That's it for now other than to say thank you for your interest, support and prayers! They are much appreicated and not taken for granted. God Bless :-)
