A late Happy Christmas!
Sorry it's been a while since we last wrote an entry you will soon see that things have been a bit hectic for us! But first we'd like to wish you all a Happy Christmas! We hope you had a wonderful time and that you felt God's presence with you.
So, what's been happening!? Why no updates?! Well, 3 weeks ago Sian came down with Chickenpox!! An unexpected Christmas present!! All things considered she coped well and is now well and back to her normal self. This obviously meant Graeme and I were juggling (even more than usual) work and caring for Sian.
Also this month there has been the announcement of a number of positions within The Salvation Army in Latvia. As of 2nd January 2006 Graeme has been appointed to a new position as Project and Development Secretary at Regional Headquarters. Graeme will be responsible for relationships with foreign partners and sponsors, development of new projects and short term projects. This obviously means that from the same date Graeme is then no longer co-leader of Patverums Day Centre. I (Zoe) will take on the leadership of the centre!
In many ways this has come as a surprise to us both to be offered these positions but we are both excited about it and the challenges they will bring. Graeme will still be involved with Patverums no only through this new job but he will help me with the financial side of the centre, be my ‘sounding board’ as well as making regular visits to the centre to spend time with the children.
While all this has been going on the centre has been busy with Christmas preparations, many activites and the normal small groups. On 23rd December we had our Christmas party. I will write a proper entry about that next week.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a Happy New Year. May God bless you all richly in 2006!
Yesterday we took 14 children ice skating! We had a great afternoon and we managed to enjoy an hours skating with no injuries.
For a number of the children it was the first time and even though there were a number of bumps they loved it! It was wonderful to see them zooming around on the ice, enjoying each others company and getting rid of some energy!! It was a fun way to spend a chilly afternoon :-) A good start to the winter season!
